We are a Christ-centered, Bible driven church promoting the greatness of Jesus in Marshall County, Alabama, and throughout the world. We are a bunch of imperfect people worshiping God only by His grace and all for His glory. We meet in small, intimate groups on Sunday mornings at 9 am to encourage one another through the Gospel. We then worship together at 10 am, as we celebrate the power of the Cross and mobilize to impact our world.
A Note From Our Pastor
Greetings, from the pastor of First Baptist Church Union Grove, Alabama. I would like to introduce myself. My name is Greg Narrell. I am the husband of Paige Narrell for 22 wonderful years. I have two daughters. Kacey and Grace Narrell. All three are an absolute blessing to me in my life and my ministry. I am a sinner saved by grace through a relationship with Jesus Christ. There is no other way to heaven, but through Him. I am a firm believer that God equips the called, not calls the equipped. He proved that by His calling me to be a pastor. He uses poor and weak vessels. However, it is through our weakness that He reveals His strength.
As a pastor and minister of the gospel I feel there are two key details of the work in my ministry. Most importantly everything should revolve around Jesus Christ alone. Acts 6:4 instructs my call and places the importance of each in order. First is the praying ministry. With any step in ministry we should always cover every choice in prayer. If we neglect to be in communication with the Father we have no ministry. Second is the preaching ministry. This is my call and I feel it a necessity to obey this call in ministry. It is my conviction and interpretation of the Bible that every believer is called to go and tell others about Jesus. Without being obedient to this we are missing the very nature of what Christ accomplished for all mankind.
In support of all people being called we need only to look at the “Great Commission”. I will share from Acts 1:8 where it states, “You will be my witnesses.” It doesn’t say maybe, it only says you will be. This is God’s Plan A. There is no Plan B. As children of God who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior we are very much a part of this calling. There is absolutely nobody immune or exempt from this calling.
In conclusion, we need only to look at one more verse of scripture. John 14:6 where Jesus stated, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, but through me.” This reveals our most important function as a church. We must worship God alone and spend as much time as possible with Him. Then respond in obedience to study His word and Go tell others about Jesus. Faith alone saves, but faith that saves is never alone. It is my goal as pastor of FBCUG to lead by example to be committed to serve God when and where He calls me to go.
