John 10:24

John 10:24 Then the Jews surrounded Him and asked, “How long are You going to keep us in suspense? If You are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

The Jews had been looking for the Messiah for a long time. God had been silent for over 400 years. Now Jesus is on the scene and the daily lives of everybody had been drastically changed. Some liked it and some did not. We get the picture that they were looking, but were not listening. As we look at this scripture we notice a “need to know” type of showdown taking place. The agenda wasn’t, can He truly be my Savior, it was, can I trap Him in blaspheme and get Him out of my way so our rules take priority again.

When you read the rest of the story you notice that Jesus lets them know He has already told them He was the Messiah. However, they don’t understand or believe because they are not His sheep. We are being told that if we are His sheep we will hear His voice and come to Him. Why are we looking at this scripture and how does it relate to my everyday living? As sheep we hear and know His voice, and then we respond and come to it. All of this is revealing to us that we may wander away from where we need to be in our walk with Christ, but if you will listen and obey his call, you can return back to Jesus. He is calling with open arms for your return back to Him! Don’t you hear Him calling? Come Home!
